Black Fox Lodge

I stayed at the Black Fox Lodge during my latest visit to Pigeon Forge. To be completely honest I did watch the intro video on their website before I arrived.

Immediately I was blown away by this stylish yet traditional mountain Lodge look balanced with modern amenities such as a resort style outdoor pool with mushroom splash area and slide, in house brick pizza oven and much more.

The hotel is named for Cherokee chief Black Fox, who ceded part of what is now Sevier County in a 1783 treaty

Opened in December 2016 this hotel is brand new and offers so much for all types of need, whether it is business, pleasure or just passing through.

Location

The hotel is within walking distance along Riverwalk Greenway (Walking track),  from the LeConte Center and The Island.  It is also close to many of the GoCart tracks, The Comedy Barn in fact it is a great location for many activities that Pigeon Forge has to offer. Only 7 miles from Gatlinburg if you have a visit there on your itinerary or head in the other direction to the historic Sevierville and take in some old Tennessee.

The Lodge has 178 rooms including large suites in the tower part of the hotel. The tower section is separated from the kitchen and meeting space by the breathtaking lobby that really takes your eye and gives you that warm mountain lodge feeling with its stone built fireplaces and Barn door entrance to the breakfast serving area. This area has a very relaxing feel about it. There is also the Fox Den bar just past the barn doors on the meeting space side of the lobby.

Lobby

Upon entering the hotel, designers have specialized in turning this escape into a “home away from home”.  A huge stone fireplace fills the center lobby allowing for several chairs.  Should there ever be a wait for check-in, this setting is ideal especially during the winter season.  The leather couches and crackling fire help to melt away any vacation stress.

Anyone else want to stretch out on that couch and take a nap?

Other side of the fireplace.  Another couch I would be happy to sleep on!  Notice the barn doors on the wall.  These lead to the meeting space.

Before heading to the rooms, lets check out this meeting space the employees keep bragging about.

Meetings and Events

This resort features 3 meeting rooms that can be easily be made into one big room so depending on your need this space can seat up to 375 total with 13 feet ceilings.  This will also work well for some really hardcore music concerts featuring an A List artist or a small retreat.  If you want a great event without the 6 digit price tag, this place is your go to location.

This is room has a very earthy feel and just exudes class.  Projectors are already in place on the ceiling and ready to be used if needed.

I can see a very fancy business luncheon here.  The stations on the left will peel back to make more space.  Lets head on up to the room to drop off my luggage.

Rooms

The Black Fox Lodge has 6 different room types spread across 178 rooms.  These include:

Double Queen

Double Queen with View

Extended Double Queen

Two Room Deluxe Corner Suite (My person favorite!)

Junior Suites

Family Queen Rooms

This lodge was designed for large families and groups.  Notice there are no king beds?  Also note that each room is made for at least 4 people meaning you really get your money’s worth from a stay here.  Lets see just how wonderful these rooms really are?

This is my room.  First notice how clean it is……….ok lets move on.  These pillows.  Im not sure how but I could probably sleep on a granite floor without waking if I had just one of these pillows.  All rooms come standard with coffee maker, Wolfgang Coffee, charging station, comp wifi, bluetooth alarm, and microwave.  Oh but wait, let me review the amenities of the other rooms.

Extended Double Queen-2 queen bed sleeper sofa, iron and ironing board, balcony or terrace of mountain or river view, shower/tub combo, hairdryer.

Two Room Deluxe Corner Suite (My person favorite!)-spacious living room, full and half bath, hairdryer, iron, and ironing board, fridge, wrap around 600ft balcony view of mountains AND river.

Junior Suites-additional 2 queen beds, two full bathrooms, hairfryer, iron and ironing board, fridge.

Family Queen Rooms-queen sleeper sofa, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, fridge.

Bathrooms

I took many pictures of this marvel.  I think its about as big as some of the rooms in my house.  This one is featured in a Junior Suite,

The bathroom above is in a standard queen.  Still amazing and even looks as though its NEVER been used.  Well done housekeepers.  Well done.

I wonder if I keep taking them, will they keep replacing them?  The cleanest smell ever is trapped in these bottles.

Can I pay to just rent the bathroom?  How much to just sleep in the tub?  Wow!

Enough wondering around the bathrooms.  Lets check out their famous restaurant.

Just a view of the elevator hall.  Notice the footprints on the carpet.  Thats one clever decorator.

The bar is called the Fox Den.  Its a full bar complete with the best pizza you have ever tasted.  Do you see the barrel in the center of the photo? No?  Ok here is a better picture of it.

That barrel is the pizza oven.  You wont find anything like it anywhere else in the Smoky Mountains.  It spans 12 feet and does seem to hold the wall up. (More on that subject later)

Pizza.  Pizza!  Pizza!  Why is there only one in this picture??!  Seriously.  I hate saying this but do NOT go out to the area restaurants.  Stay inside and enjoy the pizza here.

Lets go check out the rest of this resort before Im as big as that barrel in the bar.

Fitness Center

Few treadmills, eliptacles, and standard Bowflex type weight machine.  If you are in a hurry, they do have free weights to use.  You cant beat the view of the patio outside.  The gym is open 24 hours for guests so you can stay on your fitness regiment even during work or vacation.

Pool

The pool outside features a twist slide and mushroom splash area for young children.  Its very large and its design allows small kids to remain in one location without larger kids in the way.  There isnt much shade on a hot day but its a great pool for a twilight swim.

Wonderful outside meeting space for families and groups.  Notice to the left are the windows from the fitness center.  Depending on the crowds, you could enjoy exercising while viewing the firepit.  I could get used to working out this way.  How many days does it take to form a habit…?

The outdoor grill is great for any women’s retreat or even guy’s night out.  Grill your steaks and throw in a beer from Fox Den.

Breakfast

I found that this is one hotel that has adequately provided siting space for breakfast.  It doesnt feel cramped or like Im waiting in line at Dollywood.

It feels exactly like you are sitting in large dining room in a very expensive lodge.  These dining seats at the tables are better than any I have ever experienced.  Extremely comfortable.

Plenty of space should a line form at breakfast.  Once again, notice this is the other side of the barrel.   And yes, there are lots of choices here.  You arent required to stay in line just to get to a certain item.

What hospitality!  How did they know I wanted ketchup on my eggs?

A hungry man’s breakfast.  That bacon was crispy too.  Im sure thats difficult to do when feeding large numbers at one time.

My first plate.

I didnt get a picture but they do have gravy for the biscuits.  I think they are perfecting the southern breakfast.

One last amazing feature to the breakfast area

The Pantry Market

For any last minute vacation needs including sunscreen or toothpaste and late night munchies.

Guest Laundry

The laundry area is very small but it does serve the great service of being available should any accidents or rewearing of clothes during the week.  If you are like me, you pack 15 shirts and only wear 3.

This hotel really is amazing.  It features one of the best location and is completely brand new.  With that in mind we would love for you to try it out and make your vacation to the Smoky Mountains a perfect one.

It does have a walking trail to The Island and plenty of private space which is very hard to come by in Pigeon Forge.  Its even featured in the Winterfest Trolley Tour which does make it very easy to locate.
